Bachmann Announces $239,495 Grant for East Bethel Fire Department

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann called Arden Anderson of the East Bethel Fire Department to inform him they would be the recipient of a federal grant for $239,495. The purpose of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant is to give financial support directly to local fire departments to improve our first responder’s ability to protect the health and safety of the public, as well as that of first-responder personnel.

Bachmann Votes to Protect Workers Rights
A bill deceptively called the, “Employee Free Choice Act,” passed the Democrat controlled House of Representatives today on a vote of 241-185. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann opposed the bill because it would eliminate the right to secret ballot elections for union employees.

Bachmann Applauds Denial of DM&E Loan
Yesterday, Federal Railroad Administrator (FRA) Joseph H. Boardman denied a $2.3 billion loan request for the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern (DM&E) railroad due to an unacceptable risk to federal taxpayers. Prior to this announcement, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann signed a letter urging the FRA Administrator against issuing the loan due to the high risk for taxpayers.

Congresswoman Bachmann Visits the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann stopped at the St. Cloud Veterans hospital today to visit with staff, thank Veterans for their service, and learn about issues important to the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital. Taking part in the “National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans,” Bachmann helped to encourage volunteers to spend time with our Veterans.
