Larson Announces Bradley International Airport To Receive $8 Million From ARRA

Hartford, CT- Today, U.S. Congressman John B. Larson(CT-01) announced that Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks will receive $8 million dollars from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The funding, allocated by the U.S. Department of Transportation, will be used to repair a runway at the 62 year old airport.

"Bradley International Airport serves as Southern New England's gateway to the world. This funding will not only improve the airport's infrastructure, but will also save and create jobs during our tough economic times," said Larson.

Bradley International Airport is served by fifteen airlines, including nine major cargo carriers. There are approximately 18,000 full-time employees who are directly or indirectly dependent on the airport.

"The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act offers the short term help and long term solutions needed for the state. Bradley generates over $4 billion dollars of economic activity every year.  By making this critical investment in our state's major hub of commerce and transportation, we boldly set the path toward increasing the overall economic strength of the state and our region."
