Tea Party Caucus Members Offer Largest Savings Proposals of Any Caucus

The National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF) recently announced that Tea Party Caucus members support the largest savings agenda when compared to all other House caucuses. Members of the Tea Party Caucus, on average, proposed a $174.5 billion net savings agenda.

“The Tea Party movement stands for fiscal discipline, and this report demonstrates that Tea Party Caucus members are listening to the voice of the people,” said Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06), chair of the House Tea Party Caucus. “With our national debt quickly approaching $16 trillion, Congress needs to act swiftly and resolutely to put our country on a trajectory of fiscal success rather than fiscal tragedy.”

When announcing these results, the National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF) said, “It is the Members of this newer Tea Party Caucus who are leading the way in the quest to cut spending. The typical TPC Member would reduce outlays by $174.5 billion.”
