Tea Party Caucus Meets to Discuss Debt Ceiling

Jun 2, 2011

Washington, Jun 2 - Today, the House Tea Party Caucus, chaired and founded by Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06), was addressed by Dick Morris, political commentator and author, and JD Foster, the Norman B. Ture Senior Fellow in the Economics of Fiscal Policy at The Heritage Foundation. Bachmann said of the meeting:

“The Tea Party Caucus was proud to host Dick Morris and Dr. Foster as they discussed the realities of our nation’s fiscal future as Congress debates raising the debt ceiling. The fifty-nine members of the Tea Party Caucus represent Americans who are calling for Washington to leave the debt ceiling limit where it is and instead focus on serious spending cuts.

“On Tuesday, the House Majority, including many members who were sent to Washington by the Tea Party, gave a strong message to the White House and liberal Democrats by voting against a clean rise of the debt ceiling. Many of us are indeed listening to the voice of the American people and we will continue to work towards getting our fiscal house in order, before the burden of debt is passed onto our children and grandchildren.”
