Economic Development and Revitalization
HSIPR promotes economic development and revitalization of communities. Businesses, residents and consumers are highly attracted to the areas around rail stations because rail travelers spend money at local businesses and are easily able to utilize the cultural, social, and employment benefits of the community. A passenger rail network to Minneapolis and St. Louis through Chicago is projected to create $6.1 billion-per-year in new business revenues and up to a $3.6-billion-per-year increase to the local economies served by the line.
