Velázquez on State of the Union Address

Washington, DC – Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Small Business commented on the President’s State of the Union Address:

“While the economy added 3.2 million private sector jobs over the last 22 months, we still have a long way to go to give Americans the opportunity they deserve to succeed.  Small businesses have always been integral to our nation’s success, and the President’s vision for restoring prosperity will rely on the hard work and ingenuity of America’s entrepreneurs.   

“From manufacturing to energy, America’s strength rests on a foundation of entrepreneurship and the President’s address recognizes this basic truth about our economy.  The policies outlined by President Obama can help small firms innovate new products, find well-trained workers they need to expand, access additional energy sources, and, ultimately, compete in the 21st century global economy.   It is my hope that Congress will join with the President in implementing these ideas, so that we can foster growth and create the jobs Americans so desperately need. ”
