Velázquez Selected as Small Business Committee Ranking Member

Washington, DC – Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) was confirmed by the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee as the Ranking Democrat for the House Small Business Committee for the 113th Congress.  Velázquez issued the following statement:

            “Democrats are dedicated to reigniting the American dream and a cornerstone of that vision is creating opportunity for entrepreneurs to thrive and create jobs.  In the 112th Congress, we will remain focused on solutions that address the needs of our entrepreneurs – expanding access to capital, bolstering and protecting assistance programs at the Small Business Administration and reforming our tax code.

            “In the 112th Congress, House Democrats held conversations with 2,000 small business owners from around the country, eliciting their views on how we can foster an environment that helps them grow their enterprises.  Outreach like this will remain critical in the months ahead.  I look forward to working with all my colleagues in working on our shared priority of supporting the success of our nation’s entrepreneurs.”
