U.S. Representative Ed Royce

39th District of California

Internships in Rep. Royce's Brea, CA office offer a great opportunity for students to experience our government first-hand and learn more about the 39th Congressional district. Congressional internships provide insight into the operations of the federal government and the U.S. Congress.

Office assignments include drafting letters, greeting constituents, and assisting callers with various issues and concerns. Interns answer phones, identify significant press clippings, respond to constituent inquiries, and conduct legislative research. Depending on the length of the internship, interns may also work on specific projects with members of Rep. Royce's staff. Opportunities may arise for interns to attend official Congressional functions with the Congressman or his staff, such as Chamber of Commerce legislative breakfasts or receptions for local or visiting Members of Congress. Other internship opportunities include learning about all facets of local, state, and federal government, receiving experience in a legislative office, meeting legislators and staff members at various levels of government, and working with a U.S. Representative and his staff.

Successful interns are enthusiastic, willing to learn, detail-oriented, have excellent phone manners and a positive attitude. In the fast-paced environment of a Congressional office, the ability to ensure timeliness and accuracy of work is essential. Interns will develop strong research and communications skills and will gain valuable experience working in a team environment.
