MEDIA ADVISORY: Congressman Vela to Speak at Brownsville Events

BROWNSVILLE, TX – Tomorrow, Congressman Filemon Vela (D-Brownsville) is scheduled to speak at the Congressional Financial Education Summit and “Traces to Remember,” a project of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace.

Congressman Vela will speak at the Congressional Financial Education Summit at the Brownsville Event Center.  The summit will bring high school students and parents together to give them the tools they need to make better financial decisions as the students prepare for college.  BISD, United Way, United Brownsville, Communities in Schools and local banks have come together to share their knowledge and resources with parents and students.

Congressman Vela will then deliver closing remarks at the “Traces to Remember” event at the University of Texas at Brownsville.  “Traces to Remember” is a project of the Embassy of Activists for Peace.  Its purpose is to keep alive the testimony of the Holocaust survivors.
