Health Insurance Marketplace

North Carolinians have a new option for buying health insurance called the Health Insurance Marketplace. At the Marketplace, you may be eligible to purchase a private insurance plan that meets your needs with the help of tax credits that make premiums affordable. The plans available on the marketplace:

  • Can not deny you coverage or care because of a pre-existing condition,
  • Can not include lifetime limits on your coverage,
  • Must cover 10 essential health benefits including hospitalizations, maternity care, and prescription drugs, and
  • Must cover preventive services like shots and screening tests at no additional cost to you.
