Monday in Greensboro: Hagan to Present Congressional Gold Medal Certificate to the Family of a Montford Point Marine

Greensboro, NC - U.S. Senator Kay Hagan MONDAY at 12:30pm will present Private First Class Milton Woodruff's family a certificate commemorating the Congressional Gold Medal awarded to the Montford Point Marines in 2012. Woodruff was a veteran of World War II and was among the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps. Senator Hagan's office worked to secure the certificate for the family and ensure Private First Class Woodruff's contributions to our country are properly honored.

Hagan was the original Senate sponsor of legislation awarding the North Carolina-based African-American Marine unit the Congressional Gold Medal for their heroic and historic service. The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest civilian honor bestowed by Congress.
