Hagan to Announce Bill that Encourages Businesses to Hire Veterans
Senator Kay Hagan will be at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Oct. 22 to announce a bill that will encourage businesses to hire veterans. Joining Hagan at the event will be David Jones, President and CEO of Peak 10, to talk about the importance of hiring veterans.
Though the overall unemployment rate stands at 7.2%, the jobless rate among veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan is 10.1%, nearly 3 percentage points higher than the national average. Overall, 708,000 veterans are without a job.
