Hagan to Present Bronze Star to World War II Veteran
Durham, NC - U.S. Senator Kay Hagan will join Brigadier General James Ernst on Friday, September 13 at 1:30pm in presenting Army Corporal Merle "Jack" Hammersley, a veteran of World War II, with the Bronze Star. Hammersley served on the beaches of Normandy, which turned the tides of the war, and participated through most of the major battles in the European Theater, including the Battle of the Bulge. Senator Hagan's office worked to secure the medal and make sure his contributions to our country were properly honored.
