Interns in the Washington, D.C. office receive an inside look at the House of Representatives. Interns will be asked to research legislation for Congressman Carney and the legislative staff, answer constituent mail, answer phones, give tours of the Capitol, draft talking points, and attend hearings and briefings. The office asks students to commit to at least 15 hours per week, but a shorter work-week may be negotiated in some circumstances. The internship is unpaid. Interns in the Delaware offices gain insight into how Congressman Carney and his staff serve the local community.  Interns will be asked to answer phones and assist with constituent relations, attend community meetings and other public events with the Congressman, draft letters to constituents, help with local press responsibilities, such as drafting media advisories, press releases, and social media posts, and conduct research on relevant policy issues.  Interns are expected to work 15 hours per week during the fall or spring semester, and 30 hours per week during the summer.  The position is unpaid, but can be completed for course credit.  To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to This email address is being protected from spambots.
