Shuster Congratulates Shawnee Valley Ambulance Services on $47,215 Grant

SCHELLSBURG, PA – U.S. Representative Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) is pleased to announce that Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service has been awarded a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) in the amount of $47,215.  The funds will be used to purchase new power load systems that help first responders load victims safely into the ambulance.

“This grant is wonderful news for the people of Schellsburg,” said Shuster. “Shawnee Valley Ambulance has been serving the citizens of the surrounding area for over 40 years, and their commitment to protecting lives is certainly worthy of our thanks. This grant will allow them to continue their tradition of providing exemplary service, and I was honored to work with these brave men and women.”

“The officers and members of Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service are extremely pleased with the announcement of this grant award,” said JC Miller, Captain of the Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service.  “Equipment purchased with the grant will make loading and unloading patients in and out of the ambulances more safe for them and our crew. Without this grant, purchasing this equipment would not have been possible.  We are very grateful for all the support Congressman Shuster and his staff members have provided with this grant award.  Again on behalf of Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service, thank you.”

The Shawnee Valley Ambulance Service was founded in 1971. Originally part of the Shawnee Valley Fire Department, it now operates independently with a fleet of two Basic Life Support Ambulances. These are both equipped with Epi-pens, Automated External Defibrillators (AED), and a full compliment of life-saving tools and equipment.
