Shuster Congratulates Hope Fire Company on $106,875 Grant

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) is pleased to announce that Hope Fire Company in Northern Cambria has been awarded a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) in the amount of $106,875. The funds will be used to purchase 15 new state of the art Self Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBA).

“This is excellent news for the brave men and women at Hope Fire Company,” said Shuster. “The Assistance to Firefighter Grant funding will play a crucial role in allowing Hope Fire Company to provide first class emergency response services to Northern Cambria and the surrounding communities.”

“Hope Fire Company would like to thank Representative Shuster for his continued support for local fire departments,” said Hope Fire Company Treasurer Matt Barczak. “With his assistance, Hope has received four Assistance to Firefighter Grants, a FEMA Fire Prevention grant, and an original member of the Allegheny Mountain Firefighter Initiative $5 million SAFER grant.”

Since 2001, the AFG program has provided firefighters and emergency response personnel with protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources necessary to allow them to protect the public from fire and related hazards.
