Ellmers Praises House Passage of Ryan Budget

2013 Budget Provides a Responsible Approach to

Rescuing Medicare and Restraining Government Spending

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement from her office in Washington this afternoon:

"Today we strive to bring financial responsibility back to Washington. As our deficit and unchecked government spending continues to grow, House Republicans are standing up to the challenge by providing a common sense budget that protects our nation from further waste. The American people elected us to be responsible stewards of our country's finances. This is our job and we are up to the task."

"The Ryan budget offers a clear step forward for our nation and our economy. In it, we have provided responsible cuts to government spending that will protect hardworking taxpayers while tackling the drivers of our debt. Furthermore, this budget reverses President Obama's costly energy policies that have driven gas prices to record highs. We do this by promoting an all-of-the-above strategy for unlocking American energy production to help lower costs, create jobs, and reduce dependence on foreign oil."

"But at its core, this budget rescues Medicare and gives power to 50 million seniors as opposed to 15 unelected bureaucrats under President Obama's proposal. The time has come for Washington to have its own reality check and make the necessary sacrifices that will make our country stronger for future generations."
