Senator Donnelly Works RV Production Line

Last week, he was consensus building on the floor of the U.S. Senate, today Joe Donnelly was building RV’s on the floor of a factory.

Donnelly began his day working on the finishing line at Thor Industries in Elkhart.

“I did my best. I was a little bit slower than some of the other workers but it was great to be on the line to be working with them,” said U.S. Senator Joseph Donnelly, (D) Indiana.

Senator Donnelly installed a patio awning on the Vegas Recreational Utility and also did some work on the front grille.

One official joked that it was Thor’s answer to the local labor shortage—a shortage that a few short years ago—would have been unthinkable.

“We went through some tough times five years ago and now you look and everybody at that time said Joe, we're going to get through this we're just going to continue to keep working hard keep focusing on good design good products and good people and now you look again, the  industry is at almost record levels,” said Senator Donnelly.

With the RV industry now firing on all cylinders, today was Donnelly’s way of honoring all the workers who made it happen.

“When this industry clicks our whole region clicks, and we're very, very blessed to be on the upswing significantly and we want to see that continue and I wanted to come by and say thank you to all the people who have been a part of it,” said Senator Donnelly.
