Open enrollment runs November 15th- February 15th
Five million Americans now have health insurance thanks to the ACA, are you one of them? Open enrollment is your chance to renew your current health plan, or sign-up for new coverage.
Key Dates for 2015 Open Enrollment
Individuals who currently have health coverage
If you are happy with your current Covered California health plan and do not wish to make changes, you will automatically be re-enrolled for coverage. Please take some time to review your plan to make sure that coverage options and prices have not changed.
For those who wish to make changes to their current plan, here are some important dates to remember:
- November 15, 2014: First day to make changes to your coverage. Please visit www.coveredca.com to compare health plans.
- December 15, 2014: Enroll by this date to avoid a lapse in coverage and have your new health plan begin on January 1, 2015.
- December 31, 2014: Coverage under 2014 health plans end on this date.
Individuals without health coverage:
If you do not have health insurance, open enrollment is your opportunity to sign up for health coverage.
- November 15, 2014: First day to sign-up for health insurance. Contact Covered California to compare health plan options. Information is available at www.coveredca.com or by calling 1- 800- 300-1506
- December 15, 2014: You must enroll in a health plan and provide all supporting documentation by this date if you want coverage to begin on January 1, 2015.
- February 15, 2014: Last day to enroll in health coverage for 2015.
How to Apply
To enroll in a health plan, consumers must start an application with CoveredCA by February 15, 2015. This includes filling out all the required information on the "apply for benefits" page and the "consent for verification" page. Applicants will then have until March 15th to complete the rest of the application and select health plan.

Online & Over-the-Phone Enrollment
CoveredCA continues to be the best option for people who want to sign up online or over the phone.
Their website, www.coveredca.com, has more information about health plan options available to you. You can also speak to a representative by calling 1-800-300-1506.
In-Person Enrollment
Covered CA's “Find Help Near You” tool can help you find an enrollment center with representatives who will walk you through the application process.
