Thank you for your interest in applying to one of our nation’s service academies. The nomination process begins with the accompanying application, which you will complete online. Your completed application will include:

  1. Applicant Information Questionnaire
  2. Personal Statement
  3. Signature Form
  4. High School Transcript (and College Transcript, if applicable)
  5. Resume
  6. Three Letters of Recomendation. One letter must come from each of the following:
    • Teacher
    • Principal or Counselor
    • Non-relative who has known you more than three years
  7. SAT/ACT Score Report

All applicants must be completed by MIDNIGHT on October 13, 2014. After this date, you will not be able to submit a new application or edit one that is in the process.

Once your application has been received, you will be contacted by a representative to schedule an in-person interview. All candidates must interview in order to be considered for a nomination. The application will not be ready for consideration until the applicant has interviewed.

Should you be selected for a nomination, you will be notified by our office, and your nomination will be submitted to the service academy to which you have applied. Academies make all final decisions regarding appointments.

As you know, the application process to enter our nation’s military academies is extremely competitive. Due to the high volume of applicants and limited number of permitted nominations per member of Congress, we in the Office of Senator Booker strongly encourage all fully qualified candidates to also apply to Senator Robert Menendez and their U.S. Representative. Candidates applying to the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, or U.S. Military Academy may be eligible for a nomination from other sources, including:

  • The President of the United States of America, who nominates children of career military personnel, deceased or disabled veterans, military or civilian personnel in missing status, and Medal of Honor recipients;
  • The Vice President of the United States of America, who nominates five individuals from across the United Sates per year; and
  • The Secretary of the Army, Navy, or Air Force, who nominates members of regular military, reserve components, and participants in the ROTC.

Applying to other offices will not hurt your chances of securing a nomination from Senator Booker.

Again thank you for your interest. Please do not hesitate to contact our office with any questions at (973) 639-8700.
