Rep. Farenthold on the Resignation of Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Blake Farenthold (R-TX) issued the following statement on Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel’s resignation:
“I want to thank Chuck Hagel for his commitment and dedication to our country; as Secretary of Defense, as a U.S. Senator from the state of Nebraska and for his service as a non-commissioned officer in defense of freedom in Vietnam.
"In selecting his replacement, I urge the President to choose wisely and select a new Secretary of Defense who is prepared to deal with the numerous threats confronting our Country, from the terrorist group ISIL, to a potentially nuclear Iran, North Korea and the general instability of the Middle East. We need more than just a new face at the DOD, we need a policy shift within this Administration in the overall coordination and implementation of our national defense."
