Rep. Farenthold Denounces President Obama’s Abuse of Power, Executive Amnesty

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Blake Farenthold issued the following statement condemning the President’s unilateral, unconstitutional immigration actions.

“The American people sent a clear message to President Obama with the midterm elections – do your job , and let Congress do theirs. My constituents and people all across the country do not want a rogue Presidency operating outside of Constitutional bounds. And they don’t want unilateral action on immigration that ignores the most pressing issue – our border security.

“The President had two years to work with a Democrat-controlled Congress. He didn’t take that chance to pass immigration reform, and he certainly didn’t work to secure our borders. Yet, he somehow blames a Republican Congress for his choice to abuse executive power for his amnesty plan now.”

“The fact is, a Republican House and Senate would work with the President to secure our borders and find common ground on immigration reform. But he seems determined to destroy any chance of that and do things his way even though he himself has admitted it’s outside of his Constitutional authority.

I will work with my colleagues to do everything in our power to stop him from further breaking down the separation of powers in this country. It doesn’t matter if a Democrat or a Republican is in the White House – no President should be making laws by executive fiat.”
