The 27th district is home to the shining star of the depot system, Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), as well as Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (NASCC). CCAD saves taxpayers millions every year by repairing and upgrading our helicopters for much less than the cost to purchase a new one and NASCC is a primary training site for naval pilots.
I believe that CCAD and NASCC should be operating at 100%, even under sequestration cuts, and that’s why I introduced the Protecting America’s Civilian Employee’s (PACE) Act. The PACE Act forces agencies to find the needed savings through cutting waste and other measures, not furloughing their employees and preventing them from meeting the Department of Defense demands. I will continue to work hard to ensure that our military personnel receive the support they need to accomplish their important missions. It is an honor to represent the thousands of military personnel and their families stationed in the 27 District of Texas. Speaking on the House Floor in favor of an amendment that would exempt all DoD employees, like those at Corpus Christi Army Depot, from sequester furloughs. |
