As parts of Obamacare begin to show up in people’s everyday lives, the public is seeing just how terrible the law actually is. People who initially supported it are changing their minds as they see higher costs and lower quality of care.
I have voted more than 40 times to repeal or defund all or part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and replace it with reasonable, common-sense reforms. True health care reform should focus on bringing down costs by making insurance competitive, tax deductible, portable, and available across state lines. We can develop solutions to help the 15% of Americans without health insurance and also control premium hikes that 85% of Americans endure. Small businesses and groups of people should have the power to pool together and offer health insurance to their employees or members at lower prices, just like larger corporations and the government do. Going forward, I will continue to push to repeal or defund all or part of Obamacare, and I did not, nor will I support a continuing resolution to fund the government unless it defunds the Unaffordable Care Act. Families in Texas and across the country deserve affordable, quality healthcare, and Obamacare is anything but that.
