Dreier and Price statement on Liberian elections

As co-chairs of the House Democracy Partnership, we are strong supporters of the efforts of the Liberian people to build a stable, lasting democracy. We are heartened by the transparent and peaceful nature of the first round of elections on October 11, and look forward to another free and fair election on November 8. We also know that much of the hard work of democracy comes after the ballots are counted, and we are eager to continue our partnership with the Liberian National Assembly and begin work with the newly elected members.

KENYA: A RAY OF HOPE IN EAST AFRICA

ROBINSON AND MIKO CONDUCT POLICY ANALYSIS TRAINING IN INDONESIA

Retired Congressional Research Service Staff Bill Robinson and Francis Miko conducted a three-day training program for staff of both Chambers of the Indonesian Parliament. The program was performed on behalf of the House Democracy Partnership (HDP) and in coordination with the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta. The training consisted of presentations and discussions on techniques of public policy analysis and craft skills needed to work effectively with the Parliament. The House Democracy Partnership sponsored a regional staff institute on budgeting and oversight in Nairobi Kenya for parliamentary staff delegations from Indonesia, East Timor, Liberia, Afghanistan and Kenya.
