Press Releases

Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) today issued the following statement after the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its proposed decision to cover screenings for individuals at high risk for lung cancer:

“I am pleased to learn that CMS has proposed to cover lung cancer screens for high risk patients in the Medicare population,” said Renacci. “It is important that Medicare patients have the same access to evidence-based, appropriate medical imaging procedures as those who are covered by private insurance. That is why I helped to lead more than 100 of my colleagues in urging CMS to do just that. I’m hopeful that CMS will move forward expediently with its rule making process.”

In June, Rep. Renacci joined Reps. Charles Boustany, M.D. (R-LA), John Barrow (D-GA), and Richard Neal (D-Mass) in sending a letter signed by 130 of their colleagues in the House of Representatives to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) urging timely review of Medicare coverage of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scans for Medicare patients at high risk of developing lung cancer.
