Senate schedule for October and November 2014

The Senate stands adjourned until 10:00am on Wednesday, October 15th for a pro forma session only (No Business Conducted). Following the pro forma session, the Senate will adjourn until Wednesday, November 12, at 2:00pm.

On Wednesday, November 12, 2014, following any Leader remarks, there will be a period of morning business until 5:30pm with senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each, with the time equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees.

At 5:30pm, the Senate will proceed to Executive Session and vote on cloture on the nominations of Randolph Moss, to be United States District Judge for the District of Columbia, and on Leigh Martin May, to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of Georgia.

The House will reconvene on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

Monday expect a House Rules Committee hearing on the Syria/ISIS language and the CR. It still remains to be seen whether it is combined or separate legislation. The CR hopes to include a temporary reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank, an extension of moratorium on Internet taxes and fund the government until December 11. TBA
A House floor vote (s) on it could occur Wednesday.

Tuesday Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey, are set to testify at the Senate Armed Services Committee on the ISIS threat. 9:30 am in  SH-216

Tuesday, Senate Appropriations, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Ebola with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Tom Frieden and Ebola survivor Kent Brantly. 2:30 pm   SH-216

Wednesday House Foreign Affairs Committee will hear from Ebola survivor Kent Brantly. 10:00 am in  2172

Wednesday the House Homeland Security Committee will hear from FBI Director James Comey and Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to discuss threats to the homeland. 10:00 am in  311 Cannon

Wednesday Senate Foreign Relations Committee has Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss ISIS. 2:30 pm in  SD-419 *RSVP needed to cover*

Wednesday the White House hosts the annual summer picnic for members of Congress.
