Armed Services Committee Legislation

Members of the Armed Services Committee, in accordance to the committee's oversight plan and jurisdiction, consider numerous pieces of legislation throughout the congressional session.

The most comprehensive legislation, the annual National Defense Authorization Act, authorizes the Department of Defense and the national security programs of the Department of Energy. The NDAA Home page linked above is the online home for all resources related to the 2014 NDAA including Markup Schedule, Subcommittee and Full Committee Markups, Amendments and will be updated as soon as information is available.

Additionally, Chairman McKeon introduced H.R. 3662, the Downpayment to Protect National Security Act, which would pay for one year of defense and non-defense sequestration by requiring a reduction in the federal workforce through attrition.
