(Washington) – Congressman John B. Larson released the following statement today on H.R. 4015, The SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014. The amended version considered today attaches a five-year delay to the individual responsibility provision under the Affordable Care Act to a much-needed fix to the Medicare payment system. This marks the 51st attempt to delay or repeal the ACA.

“This legislation fails to provide certainty for our healthcare community. I am disappointed that after months of bipartisan and bicameral work, House Republican Leadership moved to gain political points rather than fix the Medicare payment system.

“The House cannot waste time on politics while our seniors’ access to healthcare is threatened. In the next month, physicians could see significant cuts to Medicare payments unless Congress acts. We must work together and finally fix a problem that has long impacted doctors and patients.”
