Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23, 2014, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) will visit local veterans and tour the facility of the Alexander “Sandy” Nininger Veterans Nursing Home in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Congressman Deutch's visit follows his recent vote in support of the Veterans' Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014, bipartisan legislation passed by Congress in response to the widespread fraud and abuse discovered at several VA facilities earlier this year. The bill, which was signed into law by President Obama in early August, authorizes the VA to ramp up the hiring of new doctors, nurses, therapists, and other health care professionals, open new facilities in under-served communities, and allow veterans facing long waiting lists to secure care at community health centers, private clinics, and other locations.
