WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today announced the 8th District winners for the first-annual Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Competition.

“I’m so pleased that we had students from our local area participate in the first-annual Congressional STEM Competition,” Boehner said.  “Our winners from the 8th District are among the brightest and most creative young minds, and I couldn’t be prouder of their work.”

In this year’s competition, the House “App” Contest, high school students designed and exhibited a software application, or “app,” for mobile, tablet, or computer devices.  The winning entry, the Cryptographer, was submitted by Ross High School Seniors Samuel Hickenlooper, Tyler Johnson, and Alexander Maurits. The Congressional STEM Competition is a nationwide competition that was established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013.
