Fresno Unified to get $160K grant

Thirty-one organizations in 21 states were awarded funds through the Citizenship and Integration Grant Program this year. Thirty-one organizations in 21 states were awarded funds through the Citizenship and Integration Grant Program this year. Fresno Unified School District will receive $160,000 from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to assist lawful legal residents with the naturalization process, Rep. Jim Costa’s office said in a release.

“Every wave of immigrants adds to the diversity and strength of our country,” Costa said. “As a nation of immigrants, we should do all we can to help people who follow the law become naturalized citizens. This award will help many who are legally here and already call this country home be able to attain citizenship.”

Thirty-one organizations in 21 states and the District of Columbia were awarded funds through the Citizenship and Integration Grant Program this year. USCIS estimates that these organizations will be able to serve approximately 10,000 immigrants from countries around the world with the help of these funds.
