Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre, founder and Chairman of the Congressional Caucus on Youth Sports, was honored by the National Council on Youth Sports for his long legacy of leadership as he prepares to retire and as he helped kick-off a celebration of National Youth Sports Week on Capitol Hill this week.

Congressman McIntyre stated, “Youth sports are the key to better grades, excellent interpersonal skills, and a healthier lifestyle! That’s why we started the Congressional Caucus on Youth Sports - to support all the organizations, coaches, officials, parents, and volunteers who are making a difference each and every day in the life of our young people. It’s an honor to participate in National Youth Sports Week as we highlight and celebrate the importance of youth sports in our communities, and the positive impact they have on building productive and healthy citizens!”

The Executive Director of the National Council of Youth Sports, Sally Johnson, recognized Congressman McIntyre for his dedication to Youth Sports. She said, “On behalf of 60-million young athletes, we thank you for your years of loyal support to youth sports and your untiring dedication to physical activity for a lifetime. Your commitment to the Congressional Caucus on Youth Sports is respected, appreciated, and has made a meaningful difference.”
