This session, Senate Democrats have led by passing bipartisan legislation to grow the economy, make sure struggling Americans have the help they need, and give every American a fair shot:

H.R. 3979, the Unemployment Insurance Extension Bill

On April 7, 2014, the Senate passed an unemployment insurance extension to restore benefits to 2.8 million job seekers. For many American families, these benefits have been a lifeline that's meant the difference between keeping their heads above water or sinking. In 2012, they lifted 2.5 million people, including 600,000 children, out of poverty. Restoring these benefits would be a boon to the economy; letting these benefits expire has cost the economy nearly $5 billion. It's time for the House to act to restore this crucial program.

S. 1086, the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act

The Senate passed bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the Child Care Development Block Grant program. The program serves approximately 1.6 million children every month. This reauthorization bill will improve program quality and prioritize access to high quality care. It's time for the House to act to reauthorize this program.

S. 815, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act

The Senate passed ENDA to affirm that every American deserves a fair shot to earn a living. ENDA would prohibit employers from discriminating in employment based on actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. It's time for the House to pass ENDA.

S. 744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act

The Senate passed comprehensive immigration reform bill would fix our broken immigration system and grow the economy. The bill would increase real GDP by 5.4%, fostering job creation and job growth. The immigration bill would decrease the federal deficit by nearly $850 billion, more than all House passed bills combined. It's past time for the House to act on this bipartisan bill.
