Law Clerks

Senator Hirono earned her JD from Georgetown Law Center in 1978, and understands the importance of a legal background when working in Congress. For this reason, she is excited to announce that her DC office is now offering legal clerkships to current law students throughout the summer and academic year.

As a law clerk, you can observe the legislative process by working for Senator Hirono on Judiciary Committee issues. This Senate Committee has a broad jurisdiction and enacts legislation that encompasses: oversight of amendments and courts, immigration, human rights, federal crimes, and many more legal issues. You will have a hand in a wide variety of projects, including legal research, preparation of memoranda and materials for committee hearings and votes, and assisting in legislative matters.

These positions provide a unique and rewarding opportunity to participate in the functioning of the Senate. They are typically unpaid, full-time positions.
