(US SENATE) – Today, Senators John Walsh and Jon Tester welcomed two Montana students, Grayson Fiveash of Big Timber and Liam McMartin of Bozeman, to the nation’s capital.  The students were selected to participate in the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., where they engaged in leadership skills training and networking.

“Talking with these bright students, I know I was talking to some of the leaders of tomorrow,” Walsh said.  “Their commitment to public service and giving back to their state and country is remarkable, finding the time to engage in their communities.  Montana will enjoy a bright future at the capable hands of young adults like Grayson and Liam.”

“Civic engagement is one of the most valuable principles being taught in Montana schools,” said Tester, a former teacher. “It’s individuals like Grayson and Liam who will one day be the voices of action in their communities and I’m glad that Montana students have opportunities like this one to strengthen their passion for giving back.”

The National Youth Leaders Conference is a program that brings students together from all across the nation who are recognized as leaders within their community. Grayson and Liam will gain real-world leadership experiences and skills that they can use to engage veteran and underserved populations in the state.
