Harkin Applauds Senate Approval of EEOC Nominees

Wednesday, December 03, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, today applauded Senate approval of two Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) nominees – P. David Lopez to serve as General Counsel of the EEOC and Charlotte Burrows to serve as a Member of the EEOC. Both nominees were approved by the HELP Committee in November.

“An economy that works for everyone starts with a ladder of opportunity that is open to all.” Harkin said. “American workers deserve to know that they will be treated fairly on the job. The EEOC plays a vital role in our economy by combating discrimination and supporting employment opportunities, both for individuals with disabilities and all Americans. I am confident these nominees will help the EEOC continue to fulfill its important mission and know they will make a difference in the lives of workers around the country.”
