One example is to review a variety of private-sector tools that some have suggested be used in Medicare reform. Commission staff will present summary information as requested by the Commissioners. Topic: Medigap Reforms Commissioners have discussed the impact of supplemental insurance (Medigap) on the Medicare program and its beneficiaries. The Commissions Reform Task Force has received testimony about the impact of supplemental coverage on utilization and program spending, the availability and cost of supplemental coverage, supplemental benefits and comparisons between self-purchased and employer-sponsored coverage. Commission staff will present summary information as requested by the Commissioners. Wednesday, January 6 / 8:00 a.m. Commissioners will continue their discussion of a premium support model. The members will review side-by-side comparisons that show how some design concepts may vary in four health care programs.
