Committee Republicans Issue Report: "The Wrong Way Congress"
On September 29, 2010, Congressman David Dreier, Rules Committee Ranking Republican, was joined by his fellow Rules Committee Republicans Congressmen Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Pete Sessions and Congresswoman Virginia Foxx today in unveiling a new report, The Wrong Way Congress , which outlines the procedural abuses and failures of the 111th Congress and the House Rules Committee’s role in executing them.
The Wrong Way Congress outlines the procedural abuses employed to force through the Majority’s big three bills: the failed “stimulus” bill, the unsuccessful Cap and Trade legislation, and the government takeover of our Nation’s health care system. It also discusses the breakdown in the budget and appropriations process, specifically the crackdown on floor debate as non-defense discretionary spending increased by 91 percent. Finally, the Wrong Way Congress explains how the Democratic Majority employed unrestricted suspension and “martial law” authority to cover up for their lack of action on spending bills.
The report is available now on the Rules Committee Republicans' website (http://rules-republicans.house.gov). For the full text of the report, click on the link below.
