Tunica

Tunica County is located in the northeastern portion of the Delta Region of Mississippi on the Mississippi River, as of 2010 the population was 10,778. Tunica County was formed on February 9, 1836 and was named after the Tunica Native Americans. Today Tunica County is an important center of tourism in the state built around numerous casinos and resorts.

The county seat is Tunica. Other Tunica County communities include: North, Tunica, Banks, Dubbs, Dundee, Evansville, Hollywood, and Prichard. In its first census in 1840 there were 821 residents listed. In the last federal census in 2000 the population was 9,227.
