FEMA Accepting Assistance To Firefighters Grant Applications

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will begin accepting applications for their Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 8:00 AM EST. The application deadline is Friday, December 5, 2014 at 5:00 PM EST.

Fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations are eligible to apply. Funds must be used to support firefighters and non-affiliated EMS organizations and can be used to support:

1. Operations and Safety
2. Vehicle Acquisition
3. Regional Grants
4. State Fire Training Academies


Eligible applicants should apply for AFG funding online via the e-Grants application at: https://portal.fema.gov. Applicants should review the FY 2014 AFG Funding Opportunity Announcement for more information on the application process. In addition, System for Award Management (Sam.gov) registration is required of all AFG Program applicants and awardees.
