On April 1, 2014, the House passed S. 1557, the Children’s Hospital GME Support Reauthorization Act of 2013, by a voice vote under suspension of the rules.  This bill extends the Children’s Hospital Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program, which provides funding to about 55 freestanding children’s hospitals in 30 states to support the training of pediatricians and other residents.

The House passed an earlier version of this bill, H.R. 297, on February 4, 2013.

On April 7, 2014, S. 1557 was signed by President Obama, making it Public Law 113-98.
