Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) joined local officials urging the Senate to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which includes critical support for Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery School District through the Impact Aid program. In May 2014, Rep. Maloney introduced and passed legislation in the House to lift an artificial cap that prevented the school district from getting its full share of aid, shortchanging it by approximately $2 million until 2013. After passage in the Senate, the legislation will head to the President’s desk for his signature.

Three pieces of legislation authored by Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) were passed by the House of Representatives today as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Passed by a vote of 300-119, the NDAA reauthorizes important national defense programs and includes: the extension of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area; an additional $2 million in the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery School District through the Impact Aid program; and authorization of the final installment of funding for the construction of new barracks at West Point.

This $5.828 million investment through the Federal Emergency Management Administration’s (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) will strengthen flood-prone bridges, repair existing damage due to past flooding, and protect families, businesses and communities from future flooding.

With these tax scams continuing across the country, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) and Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman warned taxpayers in the Hudson Valley to watch out for these scam calls.
