Rep. Fudge Statement on the Department of Justice Investigation of the Cleveland Police Department
December 4, 2014Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced results of its review of City of Cleveland Division of Police policies and practices related to unequal treatment, including the use of excessive force, racial discrimination and police pursuits: "I thank Attorney General Holder and the Department of Justice for conducting a thorough review that addresses important systemic changes needed in the Cleveland Police Department," said Congresswoman Fudge. "I also commend Mayor Frank Jackson and the City of Cleveland for its cooperation and assistance during the review. Clearly, we all have a strong interest in providing a safe community for every citizen and law enforcement officer."

CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE STATEMENT ON EXTENSION OF NEGOTIATIONS WITH IRAN
December 1, 2014Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) released the following statement today following the U.S. extension of negotiations with Iran: "The lack of progress in achieving verifiable concessions from Iran to end its nuclear ambitions is very disappointing. International negotiations must not be used to stall for time and continue enrichment of nuclear materials that threaten the security of our nation and our allies. It is my hope and expectation that Iran lives up to its responsibility to halt any and all activities leading to the development of nuclear weapons as a condition of relief from additional sanctions or any other measures deemed necessary to contain a regime with a history of sponsoring terrorist organizations and engaging in human rights violations," said Congresswoman Fudge.

Congresswoman Fudge Statement on the Fatal Police Shooting of 12 year old Tamir Rice
November 24, 2014"My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Tamir Rice and the community struggling with the loss of a 12 year old boy fatally shot by a Cleveland police officer in a park outside the Cudell Recreation Center," said Congresswoman Fudge. "The City of Cleveland must ensure a thorough and transparent investigation of this tragic shooting. With the long awaited report by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) into the use of deadly force, racial discrimination and police pursuits by the Cleveland Division of Police expected soon, I urge DOJ to review this incident and continue monitoring the Police Department."

Congresswoman Fudge Statement on Voting No to Advancing the Keystone Pipeline Project
November 14, 2014Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) issued the following statement after voting no on H.R. 5682, legislation that enables immediate construction and connection of a TransCanada Corp. pipeline (known as the Keystone XL Project) from Canada through the United States to oil refineries on the Gulf Coast: "After careful review, I believe completion of the Keystone Pipeline as authorized in this legislation is not in the best interests of the people of my district or American taxpayers. I am aware that some may see an economic benefit and with the right legislation, the Keystone project merits consideration. However, this bill is not the answer," said Congresswoman Fudge.
