Press Releases

Rep. Jim Renacci (OH-16) today released the following statement ahead of President Barack Obama’s announcement of a series of executive actions on immigration:

“Following Election Day, President Obama expressed that he ‘is eager to work with the new Congress.’ However, actions speak louder than words and it appears that he will once again circumvent Congress,” said Renacci. “If we want to fix our broken immigration system, we need to start by securing our borders, ensuring that our current laws are enforced, and reforming our existing visa programs. Any unilateral action on immigration will be a nonstarter for real reform. Instead of bypassing Congress through executive order, President Obama should work with us on any comprehensive policy measure that will have a significant impact on our workforce and economy.”
