Congressman Thompson Announces $ 301,725 Awarded to the City of Hollandale

BOLTON, MISSISSIPPI – Today, United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) announced The United States Department of Transportation has awarded $ 301,725 in grant funds to the City of Hollandale to acquire land for development, construct utilities, install miscellaneous NAVAIDS and install perimeter fencing.

This grant will provide federal funding for the Hollandale Municipal Airport in Mississippi. The acquisition of land is needed for the installation of the perimeter fencing. This project will acquire approximately 6.7 acres on the north side of the runway and approximately 13.6 acres on the south side of the runway. This project will rehabilitate the airport's rotating beacon which has reached the end of its useful life.  This project will deter unauthorized persons and vehicles from entering onto the airfield.  This project will fund approximately 6,500 linear feet of fence.  This grant will provide funds for the installation of a wastewater system to serve the public restroom facilities at the airport.
