THOMPSON TO AWARD CALLAWAY 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

BOLTON, MS – Today, Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02), along with the Town of Bolton Development Corporation and Nike, Inc. announced they will award the five Second Congressional District State Champion basketball teams with a pair of Nike Air Jordan basketball shoes. Tonight, the Mississippi 5A state champion boys basketball team from Callaway High School will receive their new Air Jordans.

“I am pleased to have five, state champion teams in my District. It makes me proud to see young people work together and achieve for their communities. When our young people succeed, we must continue to encourage them to reach new heights. I hope that this donation will help to inspire these young athletes to continue to be the best that can be and remain positive influences in their communities,” said Congressman Thompson.

Teams to be recognized include: S.V. Marshall High School Boys Basketball Team, the Callaway High School Boys Basketball Team, the John F. Kennedy Memorial High School Girls Basketball Team, the Shaw High School Boys Basketball Teams and the Velma Jackson High School Boys Basketball Team.
