Media Advisory: Congressman Bennie G. Thompson to Host Summer Food Service Program Informational Meeting

BOLTON, MS – Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02) will host a preliminary information meeting on March 20, 2014 with the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Office of Healthy Schools and Child Nutrition (OHSCN) on the 2014 USDA Summer Food Service Program. The program provides healthy and nutritious meals to youth during the summer break.

At this meeting you will hear from Lenora Phillips, MDE Division Director for Summer Food Service Program and her staff on how to become a sponsor, program funding, meal guidelines and reimbursement, and more.  The following types of organizations can be sponsors, public schools and districts, local units of government,nonprofit organizations, nonprofit camps, colleges or universities.
