Congressman Thompson condemns recent acts of violence around the Mississippi Delta
Today, Congressman Thompson released the following statement concerning the recent rash of reported violent crimes in Clarksdale, Mississippi:
“I am shocked and troubled by the recent rash of violent crimes occurring in the city of Clarksdale. These senseless acts, perpetrated by a few misguided individuals, threaten they way of life that this city’s citizens deserve to enjoy.”
“Given the severity of the present situation, we must all work together to ensure that these individuals are brought to justice and that a sense of security is restored.”
“In an effort to assist in garnering law enforcement resources, my office has requested the Coahoma County Sherriff’s Department, the Clarksdale Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Attorney’s office, and the Department of Homeland Security work together to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes are apprehended before they further harm our community. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of those impacted by these incidents.”
