Department of Education Deputy Secretary to visit the 2nd
Congressional District
Congressman
Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) and Deputy Secretary Anthony Miller will tour Canton
Elementary School and Lanier High School on Friday, March 9, 2012.
The duo is set
to start out at
Canton
Elementary School located at
740 E Academy Street in
Canton,
MS
from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m. During the tour Congressman Thompson and Deputy Secretary Miller will
visit a third, fourth and fifth grade class, speak during a student forum and
have a roundtable with teachers.
They are scheduled to tour
Lanier
High School
located at
833 Maple Street
in
Jackson,
MS from 1:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. While at
Lanier
High
School they will tour a twelfth grade class.
There will be a roundtable with school superintendents, parents, community
leaders and state
legislators
and conduct a question and answer forum.
